There's a reason why the first and second thing we often ask someone when we first meet them in Broome, right after we learn their name, is "how long have you been here & where's home for you?"
We ask, not just to place a pushpin for them in our mental map of acquaintances, but because we recognize that the answers tells us something important about them.
For better or worse, the place where we grew up usually retains an iconic status. But while it's human nature to want to have a place to belong, we also want to be special, and defining yourself as someone who once lived somewhere must seem more interesting. The truth is, a home isn't just where you are, it's who you are about to become.
If home is where the heart is, then by its most literal definition, my home is Broome. The differences may seem trivial but they can lead to lifestyle changes that are significant. From arriving alone in a different State with no friends or family to now being Married with 3 children, a Mortgage, a proud Broome Small Business owner and a vast Community I now call my immediate family. These 2 questions now don’t bother me to proudly answer to any new arrival in Broome. #loveBroome #hereforgood #Broomeishome
